Senior Design Engineer - Control and Automation who is able to review and approve design philosophy, mentor and lead the control & automation team and work with divisional control team to develop and maintain automation software portfolio for all the products within the business line .
This position is based in Singapore.
Key tasks:
- Design Engineering Activities
a) Participate in the pre-sales, quote hearing, project kick off, concept and design reviews and other project meetings as required.
b) Lead the assigned team to generate the control system schematic, bill of materials, drawings, order specifications, instructions, manuals, test protocols and design verifications/ validations to meet the requirements from external and internal customers within the agreed schedules
c) Review and approve electrical control system design and PLC programming.
d) Lead in the simulation of PLC and HMI programmes in the test laboratory or onsite
e) Trouble -shoot of PLC programme and PLC hardware at the test bed or on board the vessel.
f) Convene checking of the electrical circuit.
g) Oversee the preparation of documentation such as address list, algorithm (flow chart) and, electrical check list.
h) Participates in meetings (Vendor & Internal & Client), reviews progress and addresses interface/implementation/execution issues.
i) Support sales and tendering works in the pre-sales process.
- Reporting Progress and Work Involvement
a) Report to the HOD of Engineering.
b) Prepare the design man hours forecast and manage the design man hour budget according to the plan and project schedules
c) Report to the line manager and project manager the forecast design schedules
d) Prepare test procedure and report in accordance to the design requirements.
e) Recommend and initiate corrective actions to meet the project plan.
f) Support the Sales, Project, SSCM, Production and GSD departments in the technical clarification and discussion
g) Report non-conformances in QA System.
- Compliance to IMS Requirements
a) Ensure all the documentations are in compliance to the IMS Requirements
b) Achieve Quality Objective as set forth by the company
c) Provide staff development & training
d) To attend training as identified by line manager
Requirements
Education
a) MSc in Engineering with majors in Automation or Mechatronics or Electrical
Experience
a) Minimum 10 years experiences in automation and control industry
b) Experience in the application of marine / offshore equipment
c) Good knowledge/ experience in automation, control system design and PLC programming for offshore equipment
d) Good knowledge in PLC softwares using Function block, ladder diagram, sequential function chart and HMI graphic programming.
e) Familiar to Siemens, ABB, Mitsubishi and Omron PLC software/ hardware.
f) Familiar to major class rules such as ABS, BV, DNVGL and Lloyds and international standards
g) Basic knowledge in hydraulic control system design would be an advantage.
