Your Role and Responsibilities
Introduction
As a member of the Promontory Asia Pacific team at IBM you will contribute to the company's global efforts to provide clients with solutions to challenging strategic, risk management, and regulatory compliance issues. Our growing team of specialists offer the following services across Prudential, Conduct, Risk and Financial Crime Regulation:
- Financial Crime Advisory - Providing governance and controls assessment, case investigation, process optimisation and program design services
- Remediation Services - Independent assurance to regulators and firms over large scale remediation programs
- Culture, Governance and Accountability, Compliance and Risk Management Advisory - deep understanding to provide advice on risk governance and management policies and procedures
- Regulatory Framework Advisory - Advising regulators on building regulatory frameworks
- RegTech - Working with IBM to leverage their technology to develop cognitive/AI based compliance solutions
- Regulatory Liaison Advisory - Helping our clients understand regulatory approaches and navigate relationships with Regulators
As a Principal, you will work with a multi-disciplinary team helping banks, wealth management businesses and other financial institutions and Regulators solve regulatory and compliance problems. You will also design and restructure operational processes to better manage and mitigate both financial and non-financial risk and use technology to improve effectiveness and compliance with regulatory obligations.
You will work closely with senior staff members and executives and, applying your regulatory and industry knowledge and experience, work on projects ensuring project deliverables meet the high standards our clients have grown to expect. You will be responsible for managing engagement teams on a day-to-day basis, analysing complex problems, developing recommendations to address client issues and drafting reports and other deliverables.
Roles and Responsibilities
As a Principal you will demonstrate your ability to:
- Manage projects and act as client point of contact on a day-to-day basis contributing to engagements being delivered to budget and meeting revenue and profit targets.
- Undertake analysis as directed and take responsibility for the preparation of project deliverables, including reports and presentations.
- Interact comfortably with client executive management and regulatory authorities, generally with a Promontory executive present.
- Write and review reports to clients and for publication.
- Mentor more junior staff to develop their writing and communication skills.
To be successful in this role a candidate must possess:
- Expert writing skills, including the ability to construct well-founded, clear, and concise analyses and recommendations. Must be able to structure and write reports for both the client's review as well as reports to be published for public consumption.
- Excellent communications skills, including the ability to communicate clearly, simply and logically as well as to provide updates and discuss findings with boards and senior management levels of our clients
- A strong understanding of systems of financial regulation (preferably across the Asia Pacific region) which applies to our client base and a good understanding of the businesses in which our clients operate.
- Ability to lead and manage day to day aspects of engagement activities and work with clients.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships within teams.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to handle complex information, solve problems, and manage multiple tasks.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- An undergraduate degree in either Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or Law - with postgraduate qualifications highly regarded.
- At least 6 years' experience in financial services, consulting, government or regulatory agencies, compliance, risk management, governance or legal.
- Track record working in a fast-paced and unstructured environment with aptitude for identifying and developing innovative solutions to client challenges.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- An undergraduate degree in either Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or Law - with postgraduate qualifications highly regarded.
- At least 6 years' experience in financial services, consulting, government or regulatory agencies, compliance, risk management, governance or legal.
